Pancragen is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp, KEDW) from the Khavinson short-peptide series, associated with pancreatic tissue in the source literature. It is supplied as the free acid. The originating Khavinson patent describes Pancragen as the C-terminal amide (575.62 g/mol); material supplied in the research market is the free acid, which published mass spectra place at [M+H]+ 577.3. It has the molecular formula C26H36N6O9, a molecular weight of approximately 576.60 g/mol. Its sequence is Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp (KEDW). In cultured pancreatic cells KEDW is reported to alter expression of several differentiation-associated transcription factors.
