Overview

Semax/Selank is a two-component peptide blend containing equal parts Semax and Selank. Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide — a chain of seven amino acids — with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. It is derived from the 4-10 fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and has the molecular formula C37H51N9O10S and a molecular weight of approximately 813.93 g/mol. Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, built on tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide fragment of the immunoglobulin G heavy chain. It has the formula C33H57N11O9 and a molecular weight of approximately 751.87 g/mol.

The two peptides share a design feature: each extends a native fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide tail that slows enzymatic degradation by prolyl endopeptidases. The blend is supplied as 10mg (Semax 5mg + Selank 5mg) or 20mg (Semax 10mg + Selank 10mg) of white to off-white lyophilized powder that dissolves readily in water. Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C.
